Axles/Steering

Ultra Class racing demands extreme durability and handling. Steering systems in 4400 unlimited buggies primarily rely on full-hydraulic steering, while limited classes are often restricted to mechanical steering with hydraulic assist. These setups must endure high-speed desert washes and intense rock crawling without failing or causing bump steer

Differentials and Lockers

Ultra a Class racing combines high-speed desert racing and extreme rock crawling, requiring robust, reliable drivetrains. Vehicles typically use heavy-duty axle assemblies (like Dana 60s, 80s, or custom portal boxes) paired with selectable air lockers or spools to maximize traction, durability, and wheel travel​

Builder Parts

All the tabs and tubes to complete your chassis are now available as CNC laser cut and bent parts. Most tube parts can be DOM or Chromoly, but all plate parts are cut from 4130 Chromoly for ideal quality and longevity. These designs have been vigorously tested and proven on both Trail and Race cars and are ready to take on whatever rocks you can throw at them

Engines and Parts

The GM LS engine is the dominant powerplant in Ultra4 racing, particularly in the unlimited 4400 class. Because Ultra4 rules are relatively open, these engines are highly modified to produce anywhere from  to over  horsepower, built to survive extreme high-speed desert racing and harsh rock

Suspension

Ultra Class racing suspensions are hybrid, heavy-duty systems built to conquer both high-speed desert whoops and technical rock crawling. They rely on a combination of long-travel geometries, heavy-duty coil over shocks, internal bypasses, and hydraulic bump stops to prevent bottoming out at speeds often exceeding 100 mph​​

Shocks

Ultra Class racing demands extreme shock setups that balance high-speed desert blasting with low-speed rock crawling. Racers typically rely on heavy-duty 2.5" to 4.0" diameter coil over and bypass shocks, complemented by hydraulic bump stops, to absorb massive impacts while resisting shock fade during competition

Top-tier builders rely on large-diameter ventilated rotors (14-inch+) and rigid 6-piston calipers (like Wildwood Aerolite or Power brake X-Line) at all four corners to bring 40-inch+ tires to a halt vehicles with 4000 - 6000 pounds​
